17th August 2018 - Officially adopted our fur kids

Story of obsessive parents background...
Move in new house on 31st March 2018, spent first 2 weeks unpacking and cleaning, the next few months adding plants to bring some colour and life into our home. Eventually, we both felt and decided that we are financially, physically and emotionally prepare to expand complete our home with a kid fur kid. However, as we are both working adults, we agree to get an older, trained, smaller, less aggressive/docile fur kid, to accommodate both human and fur kid lifestyle. This is in consideration that the fur kid does not requires extensive time of companionship/training and able to live in an indoor/condo environment. After coming to this decision, Daddy and Mummy start our searching journey via SPCA, petfinder and various adoption sites.

Story of the first option fur kid...
Mummy shortlisted 3 cats for Daddy. Frankly, Sunny was not our first option, because we were looking for an older cat, so we found an 8-year old cat named Poops and a plus point Poops look like Garfield via petfinder. The owner is pleased of us through our whatsapp conversation, however there was another potential adopter who contacted him earlier on. Both parties agreed that it is only fair to let Poops and the potential adopter check-in first. The owner mentioned that Poops have rejected potential adopters before - haha, I am not sure what that means though. That was a long waiting week. The expat owner was diligent and responsible as well to update us on the night itself that Poops seem to be a good match with that adopter. In the end, we all just hope Poops found the right family and Mummy believes everything happens for a reason.

Story of OUR fur kid kids...
On the 16th August pretty late at night, we contacted Sunny's owner via Petfinder. We had a pleasant conversation. However, the owner told us we need to take Bubu along with Sunny. That time we did not know and therefore did not look into Bubu as we were searching for one fur kid and Sunny's profile seems very suitable and looks quite adorable. However, the first picture he looks like he hates the world fierce.

Mummy cannot make this decision alone, therefore asked Daddy are we ready to take two fur kids instead of one as we have been planning all along? The owner was very sincere and honest to tell us that no one ever asked about Bubu because Bubu is special.

The both of them even have a joint account =)

Daddy said maybe is a good idea to adopt them together as they can keep themselves companionship and they are close to each other. Bubu's "special" sounds manage-able to us. After an excited night thinking about getting Sunny & Bubu.... on the second day we decided we should go meet them the night itself (a Friday), so if everything goes right, we shall bring them home and spend the whole weekend with them. And..... everything did went right for a first time meet.... as proven by printscreen with owner below.

It has been 2.5 weeks since they entered into Daddy and Mummy's life.

Updates till today (i.e. 4th September 2018)...
  • Few hundred photos of them.
  • Several videos of them.
  • A big and handmade toy house for them by Daddy and Mummy.
  • Several toys and accessories for them (one hammock, one window hanging seat, one covered pet litter box, refillable food and water feeders in case we are not around for days).
  • Keep buying cat foods (dry, wet and treats).
  • Bought new cat litter.
  • Bubu's no.2 was out of his litter box 3-4 times. We just scoop it out and throw away, no scolding, no complains from Daddy and Mummy.
  • Bubu is pretty much very sensitive towards sounds and we just give him his space to come out or observe. He likes to tumble or somersault at your feet for you to sayang him.
  • Sunny is driven by food and outspoken meow for things he wants (mostly food, request to open doors, morning calls and frustration on playing toys).
  • Hammock and window hanging seat owned by Sunny.
  • Sunny really loves windows & sun; especially the combination.
  • Both of them do not like tummy rubs.
